First Juice

Got home, assembled my new Jack LaLanne Power Juicer & went to work!
Let me just say I was very excited to juice my first glass of fruit.

Recipe

4 Gala Apples, cut in half
1 Whole Pineapple, quartered.

I decided to cut the skin off the pineapple to make it easier to juice and so I wouldn't dull the blades. The whole process was so SIMPLE! Prep time was about 5-7 mins. I was expecting the motor to be loud and for the juicer to vibrate around the counter. I was wrong! It was not loud and did not move one bit! Clean-Up took about 10-15 mins, but then again it was my first juicing. I'm sure I will get faster in time.

Pros:

  1. Juiced 40 oz. out of very small amount of FRESH fruit
  2. No Pulp ( don't get me wrong I like pulp, but I'm impressed it separated so well)
  3. Clean-Up was a breeze ( I lined the pulp bin with a plastic bag)
  4. It tasted DELICIOUS!

Cons

  1. 1 small piece of pineapple did not juice ( may have been the pineapple was not at its ripest)
  2. A few small drops of juice were on the juicer stand when I lifted up the basket. ( not a tie breaker though)
All in all I am very satisfied with my juicer so far.

Cheers to juicing & blogging

Intro

My name is Mallory, I'm 21 years old. After watching infomercial after infomercial on the P90x and Insanity workout videos, going back and forth debating which one would be best for me I have decided to take a different approach to my health. I have decided before I put myself through those rigorous workouts I want to make sure that I am at my healthiest. Today is the beginning to a new adventure and what I hope to be a lasting lifestyle. I will not be doing this venture alone. My husband has decided to give it a go with me.

So with that being said, I have decided to start juicing. I will be sharing my experience through this process, my opinions, and the highs and lows!

I've been wanting to start juicing for well over a year, but just never got around to it, now with my husband sharing an interest in it we decided why not!? After watching "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead" I had really wanted a Breville! However I am not a PRO juicer yet so I looked around Macy's, JCP, Kohl's, Bed Bath & Beyond, and on Amazon for different brands and prices. I'm an avid "review reader" I have learned to always read the reviews to a product before making a big purchase! Reviews steered me away from practically every brand. Jack LaLanne & Breville were my top 2 choices. We decided on the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer to be our beginner juicer. The price and the reviews satisfied me.

I will be doing a two week juice fast. If all goes well I will extend it to 30 days!
Wish me luck.

Happy Juicing!
